AI-Assistanted solutions for enhancing the independent living of persons with intellectual disabilities / AI-Assistants 4 PID

Project overview:

AI-Assistants 4PID promotes the use of AI-based tools by persons with intellectual disabilities (PID) to improve their independent living. Support from artificial intelligence has great potential to increase independence and autonomy, but its use is currently still limited. Reasons for this include a lack of accessibility, social stigma, inadequate or insufficient digital skills, and fundamental concerns regarding reliability, data protection and ethical issues.

Objectives:

he project has the following main objectives:
• Promoting the digital and AI literacy of PIDs so that they can understand, critically reflect on and safely use AI applications.
• Training PIDs in the practical use of AI solutions to support their independent everyday lives.
• Developing specially adapted training materials for PIDs.
• Developing an accessible, AI-supported training tool.
• Improving the skills of support workers so that they can better assist PID in using AI technologies.
• Raising awareness among relevant stakeholders at local, national and European level of the potential of AI assistants for PID.
AI-Assistants 4PID thus makes an important contribution to strengthening the digital participation and self-determination of people with intellectual disabilities through the targeted use of modern AI technologies.
