The 1967 founded non-profit organization Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach-Stiftung in Essen supports domestic and foreign projects in the fields of science, educational system, public health system, sports as well as culture. In the face of the alarming situation of young people on the German labour market and also regarding the missing opportunities for vocational training the Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach-Stiftung started up their so far largest programme ‚Fighting Against Youth Unemployment' at the beginning of 1998. This programme was financed with about 15 million Euros. The programme got the character of a workshop for innovative and preventive labour market policy approaches. In this context the main area of the financed projects was to support the transition of young people from the school system either into the labour market or into vocational training. The Institute for Work and Technology was commissioned with the ongoing evaluation of the programme. The aim of the evaluation was to make specific assessments for some selected projects as well as to derive general insight from these projects for the development of specific labour market policy instruments for young people.
